yeah I've had IB since probably the beginning when it came out
2000 or something. cheap commissions but archaic platform,
and lately it's very slow for me, I enter a symbol and hit enter
and lately at times it sits there for 20 seconds and I wait for the
symbol to come up to select it. Iv'e missed trades waiting on
that. Their charts suck of course. IB is the best for
shorting stocks as I've found they have shares when many brokers do
not. Of course trading futures and other markets IB is good
as you have a lot of flexibility. If you are an options
trader Think or Swim would be better.
for pure day trading stocks I've actually liked Etrade Pro ,
fast and good executions and I like their level 2, and my fills are
better than IB. Again that's just for pure day trading some
stocks, I don't like it for options or futures or anything
else.
I use Tradestation as well but they are very expensive and so
it's more for the charts vs the trading.
again depends on what you are trying to do, what broker would
work best for you

I really like IB. Low commissions, and I can't remember
the last time they didn't have shares to short (and I short
something most days, so that's important to me). TWS desktop
platform works fine, and never gives me issues. They are my main
broker. I should note that I mostly trade via IB through my
Multicharts software, so that removes a lot of the clunkiness for
me.
Anyone in the room use
