again all depends on your time frame for what you think might
happen or are hedging against. Especially how much time you think
the event can play out in, fairly quickly or are you betting on
something that could occur as long as month or two later.
if it's a quick event one can look at out of money options and
fairly short term, but if one things that a lot of room has to be
given then one would typically look out 2 - 3 months and play deep
in the money options.

info I gave you is generally how I look at things when playing
options
