For what it's worth Matt, one of the main reasons I subscribe
still is for the systems. So IMO the solution isn't to do away with
them completely. That said, I do think what you mentioned is the
real issue, namely that you tend to tinker too much with the
systems rather than leave well enough alone. As you said, had you
left the original SPY system alone, it would be taking its first
entry today, which would obviously have been a much better play to
wait to take a first entry than several days ago. As the old saying
goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
