For what it's worth Matt, one of the main reasons I subscribe still is for the systems. So IMO the solution isn't to do away with them completely. That said, I do think what you mentioned is the real issue, namely that you tend to tinker too much with the systems rather than leave well enough alone. As you said, had you left the original SPY system alone, it would be taking its first entry today, which would obviously have been a much better play to wait to take a first entry than several days ago. As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

From CharityHedgeFund:

OK. Spoken to a few knowledgeable people. It looks like the liquidation price will be a market price, depending on volatility on 20th. So we have no idea what that will be. Could be anything. If they have not fully translated, it could easily be above 50. Small hope...but hope.

Matt, is there a stop

Matt, is there a stop on the AAPL system? Seems like it's got a long way it could keep falling from these levels..

Does anyone know of a site or service that provides real time NYMO/NAMO quotes? Stockcharts only seems to update it after the close.

Matt, question on NYSI Cumulative chart

Posted by zboy2854 on 28th of Mar 2016 at 09:47 am

Hey Matt, I was reviewing the weekend newsletter and the NYSI Cumulative chart with the Ichimoku cloud, and just wanted to confirm if the time frame you're using on that chart in the newsletter is a monthly chart or a weekly? Thanks.

Yep, thanks!

401k system on a sell?

Posted by zboy2854 on 21st of Jan 2016 at 09:10 am

Matt, I know you mentioned elsewhere that if the S&P closed below the August lows the 401k system would go to a sell signal, but the 401k page still shows it on a buy signal. Can you confirm if it's still on a buy or a sell now? Thanks.

That's true Matt, but to

Stop loss settings for SPY pro?

That's true Matt, but to be fair, the overview page also says that there is "other stop loss protection which can be hit well before the 10.5% stop loss." That's what I was wondering about--if there was any dynamic changes to the stop, given how treacherous this environment seems to be.

Are there stops currently set for the SPY pro trades?

Iran deal--has to be bad for oil prices, right?

Seems like a no brainer. Or could it be a catalyst for a washout bottom?

Now we're "only" down 70 on ES, heh

Posted by zboy2854 on 24th of Aug 2015 at 09:43 am

How crazy is it that being down 70 feels like a great accomplishment. Oh, that's right, it comes after you were just down 130. Don't forget to take your Dramamine, kids.

NYMO closed well below lower BB

Holding over the weekend may be risky, but I took a small long position in the ES. Let's see if this buy signal holds through Monday.

OK thanks Matt. I just

OK thanks Matt. I just want to try to see if it closes below the lower BB at today's close so I can take a long position before the futures close, so if there's any way to post if it closes below by the close today that would be fantastic.

Does Stockcharts update the NYMO reading in real time during the day? I've been refreshing the page, and while the SPX number keeps changing, the NYMO seems stuck at -44.93. Can anyone shed light on this?

Poor gold bugs. With such

$Silver - Latest...

Poor gold bugs. With such astoundingly bullish conditions like this, gold will be sub $1000 and silver sub $14 in no time!

Yeesh.  Talk about broken clock syndrome.  Been hearing the same exact cries about manipulation and how "they" are losing control and how gold/silver will be going to the moon this year.  Then when it doesn't happen they trot the same thing out next year.  And the year after that.  They've been doing it every year since the 2011 top.

Here's a simple question for you.  If gold and silver are so massively manipulated, why would you bother continuing to try and trade it, when you have the "powers that be" lined up against you?  That's like someone shorting the S&P when the Fed started doing QE.  Talk about financial suicide.  It makes no sense.

If they're statistically that close, I say leave it alone.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Problem is that ignores one's

Gold - Long Term perspective

Posted by zboy2854 on 27th of May 2015 at 05:52 pm

Problem is that ignores one's time frame for investment.  No one stays invested for centuries, and often not even decades.  Timing matters.

If you had a 20 year investment timeframe and you held gold from 1980-2000, not only did you not earn any returns on your investment in gold, it didn't even keep pace with inflation, it collapsed in price.  In nominal terms, your investment in gold would have lost nearly 75%, and inflation adjusted terms you would be underwater by close to 90%.  You would have had to wait 27 years just to get back to break even on a nominal basis, and on an inflation adjusted basis you still wouldn't be back to break even, nevermind a gain.

Meanwhile, the same money invested in 1980 in Treasuries or the stock market would have returned many multiples over your original investment, including on an inflation adjusted basis.

This is the entire problem with gold/silver bugs.  They think it's alwaysa good time to be invested in gold and silver.  And they just end up with broken clock syndrome.

Great, thanks!
