You rarely hear ANYONE, ANYWHERE,

You rarely hear ANYONE, ANYWHERE, talk about re-installing the short sale uptick rule, which was part of the markets for many years.  It was gotten rid of prior to the 2008 crash and by not having it the algo's and robo's can just continue to short from there computer programs.  Maybe I'm missing something but I suspect the swings in each direction would not be so violent if this was still in place.  Just a thought.

short sale uptick is way beyond where we are now with all the financial products that have been created with little oversight.  This may make the problem with credit default swaps seem small.

I don't think shorts are driving the market down, it's unwinding of complacency that was built up so long, liquidation than than anything vs short selling
