Currently on the SPY system I have an allocation of 60% SPY on
the first entry and 40% SSO on the 2nd entry. However I'm
considering adding a 3rd entry for rare times when there could be a
third entry. Perhaps an allocation would be 60% SPY, 30% SSO,
and 10% UPRO for the 3rd entry or better yet near the money
options.
Here's a performance snapshot of the system if one were to trade
60% SPY, 30% SSO, and 10% UPRO on a 3rd entry. I don't have
options data obviously. also here's some images of past times
showing when the system would have taken a 3rd entry.
the first stat shows a TS report with 60% SPY on 1st entry, 30%
SPY on 2nd entry, and 10% SPY on 3rd entry.
the 2nd stat shows a TS report with 60% SPY on 1st entry, 30%
SSO on the 2nd entry, and 10% on the 3rd entry. Obviously
makes quite a bit of difference, 599K vs 735K. again I have
no easy way to simulate past option trades so I can't show what the
effect would be if one were to instead of buying UPRO for the 3rd
entry buying Options instead, but to me that would make a lot of
sense for the leverage.
the other images show times when the system would have had a 3rd
entry. Again as you would expect 3rd entries are rare, but
it's in those draw down times where it's nice to have a 3rd
entry
Also guys, it appears that the system will continue to stay long
as the trending indicator it uses to initially decide to hold or
sell has flipped to green.
