I have been trading the NASDAQ, but have decided to begin
trading the S&P since that is what is the focus here. What are
the best symbols to trade? Also interested in 2x and 3x
symbols.
I trade QID and SQQQ. As far as S&P, I can get a quote on
all except ES. When I enter that into stockcharts, I get Evergreen
Resources( or something like that). What am I doing wrong?
I use Ninja all the time, I like their order matrix a lot better
than Tradestation and of course the playback feature is great for
practicing and honing one's skills and Ninja Trader is free to use
for charting only. Tradestation does not have a playback
feature.
it's fine for min charts etc, don't use it to fill futures chart
back years etc. For tick data, I've heard that IB sends 1 out
of ever 4 ticks, there's holes in the data.
For me personally I use AMP futures for my data feed, but then I
make a second connection to IB where my trades get executed
through, I don't use the data to power the charts, I use AMP.
Though in order to use multiple connections like that you
will need a multi broker version of Ninja, otherwise you can only
connect to one data feed or broker at a time.

what are you trading on the Nasdaq? NQ futures? QLD/QID, or NDAQ ETF's
We trade ES, SSO, SDS, SPY etc.

You need a futures account for real time trading of ES...check with your broker for quotes.
Further, you should avoid trading futures until you gain experience.

Ninja trader has a great education tool to help newbies learn futures trading.
You can trade real time with the market but in simulation mode.
Can practice without risk. Excellent feature.

Es is the symbol for the E-mini futures. I've never tried to chart it on stockcharts, but I'm sure there is a way

Stockcharts actually has futures symbols, for example ^ESU15is the symbol for ES Sept 2015 futures, however they only plot daily,
to trade futures use Ninja Trader, Tradestation, etc, not Stockcharts
