For tutorial students: To chart distance from an MA, you can use
the Detrended Oscillator indicator on most platforms or you can
detrend the MACD on your own. Here's the Russell cash with the MACD
detrended to plot distance from the 9MA. Looking back on extreme
distances over the last year, +/-20 starts to raise the RTM
probabilities, so I put a green line at -20 & a red line at
+20.
I think I wrote the day you posted this but it didn't appear so
I write again. Can you give a us details on how to set this up. I
played but didn't get it.
Here's the key difference: I'm from Minnesota; Steve's from
Wisconsin; I live in California; he lives in Arizona. If he moves
to Texas, I'm not moving to New Mexico or Oklahoma, though.
I'm interested in trying to get an indicator that does exact
percentage moves. I suppose I could do this on tc2000, but it
would be nice to have something on tos that could do the "percent
above 9dma" or "percent retracement from 3 day high" etc. The
best intermediate trades in the Model Portfolio have come from the
10 , 13% , and 12% , two to four-day , selloffs we've had the past
month Any ideas which oscillators could be used to pick
that up?

But thanks for confusing me with Steve ...I had a dream last night that I was close friends with Gretsky. Just want to associate with the great ones.
Thanks Alex

Is there an oscillator for percent retracement from recent 9 day high?
