Am I just getting old and senile or does anyone wonder about this?

Biggest ipo in history and at $68/sh offering price has a market cap greater than all but 22 of S&P 500 companies.  With the opening price this morning in the $90s that list is likely smaller.

Makes my head spin.  But then I thought GOOG's IPO was also outrageous and we all know where that went.

    Yes, and remember, unlike Google,

Yes, and remember, unlike Google, this issue is not actually shares in the company. Room for some Chinese fiddling here.

    jroger, could you explain....

    I think BABA is shares

I think BABA is shares in a company in the Cayman Islands which has a profit sharing agreement with Alibaba, not in the company itself. I don't trust the Chinese, in business, any farther than I can throw all X billion of them.
