didn't think anything took RGLD today because it gapped way up in
the morning, so it was off my radar after the gap.
Unfortunately that's rather typical with these gold stocks, they
do financing's and offerings much more than other
sectors. If you've traded enough golds stocks, you see this
all the time unfortunately. However it's much more
common with the small ones
This has not to be bad, it depends on the price of the shares of
course. While smaller gold stocks are very much depending on those
financings to develop projects, conditions often are very poor,
sometimes they are way below market price.
RGLD doesn't need to do this financing, they want it because
they think it's a good time to invest in gold stocks and they want
to grow not only internally. Remember it's a royalty company! Their
business is not digging for gold but finance projects of other gold
companies.
My opinion: A good decision, but would have been
better if they did the deal when the stock was 80......
