Tom, could you talk about how rule #3 applies to this signal?

    algyros - if GDX closes

algyros - if GDX closes above the 200 day MA today, the system will not short.

    200 MA on GDX

    Matt,

I show the GDX right on the 200 day Simple MA. Do you have an exact amount above which the system will NOT short?

    Thank

    Bill - Any close/price above

Bill - Any close/price above the 200 day MA, negates it the short, the system would stay in cash.  The 200 day MA is 57.85.  That's what the rule states

    3. Do not short GDX if the price is < 3% above the 200 day MA, Instead go to cash and wait for the next buy signal.

now honestly I bet that rule would also work well with a slight close below the 200 day MA as well because stocks and indexes tend to undercut the 200 MA slightly and then rebound, however I cannot make that major change to the system rules intra day on the fly.

Tom sent out an email regarding this

    I dont get it either

I dont get it either . at or above the 200 ma. 57.85 GDX. so how can the email sent out  say short   unless another message.

nevver played the GDX because its was too complicated with all the different rules. cant yolu put a number at the close above or below like trhe spy system?

    Man guys, it's not complicated,

Man guys, it's not complicated, the rule states:

    3. Do not short GDX if the price is < 3% above the 200 day MA, Instead go to cash and wait for the next buy signal.

that means do not short GDX in the range from the 200 day MA up to 3% above it.

for simplicity sake, let's say the 200 day MA is $100, that means dont' short GDX between the range of $100 and $102.99

    I thought arrow < means

Posted by RM686 on 28th of Jul 2011 at 03:34 pm

I thought arrow < means greater than not between??    so 57.88 x.03= 1.75  means what dont short between 57.85 ans 59 .58   what about 60??

simple nunbers what to do would be better imho.

    LOL

    yes < means less than

Posted by matt on 28th of Jul 2011 at 03:35 pm

yes < means less than 3% above the 200 day MA, a close > 3% over the 200 day MA the system will short. Of course the system will short below the 200 MA
