Think or Swim is pretty good. If you haven't traded futures
before, I'd strongly suggest paper trading first. Keep in mind, all
futures have different $$ requirements.
If you don't have any experience with futures trading,
definitely study up on it first. It's a different game than stocks.
Paper trading also helps, but it's hard to simulate real trading
with emotions when you paper trade. When you are comfortable doing
live trading, just trade 1 contract at a time.
In choosing a broker make sure they will let you set up a paper
trading account. Futures do take some getting used to -- things
happen fast! I think Interactive Brokers is good although you may
want to use an add-on platform like Bracket Trader which
automatically sends orders for stops and targets when you enter and
lets you adjust them with one mouse click -- pretty neat. Still
would probably want TS or MultiCharts etc for charts.
I'm using Interactive Brokers, using BookTrader so I can take
advantage of single click limit and stop orders by just clicking on
a list of bid/ask prices, the one issue I have is it takes forever
to fill, probably because my order gets in line behind everyone
else and I'm only trading a single contract, just a guess though as
I'm relatively new at this and have only been day trading futures
for a couple of months. I'm using Multicharts for charting.
you are going to LOSE YOU BUTT! Futures can move 15
ticks in a flash... you can be under water by the time
you get filled. That's why I suggested Zaner.
The charts are right there in front of you.. or you can you
your own charts. The data feed is provided...and it is SUPER
FAST.... How the hell do you think I can type on BBT and make
trades at the same time? You can't do it .. if the
platform you are using SUCKS!

futures are way too slow..... I have put Zanner right next
to the futures on TOS and at times TOS has been TEN
ticks behind... you can't trade like that. ZANNER's
computers are in Chicago.. right next to the CBOE....

In the end it will depend on personal preference, it took me
some time to shop around and try out.
For /ES futures, I'd recommend no less than $10K to start with
for 1 contract. Day trading margin is $1,406.25, so you can fit in
more than 1 contract, but have to exit by the end of day, but
requires extra attention and money management.
futures are going to get wild shortly
