Please, can anyone comment on this short term discrepancy (USD down and SPX also down).
i dont think you can read too much into this. the fx market is just happy to await gdp tomorrow and fed, election next week. eur/usd bounces off 1,80 and S&P 500 has problems with the reports. lets see what unfolds

usually the SPX follows this, but has gone the opposite direction for the last hour or so.

EURJPY 1 min chart/SPX going opposite for a change too
