After having gotten stopped out on yesterday's open on QQQ, I'm
looking for an objective long entry for a swing trade--
the pieces seem(ed) to be in place, with positive weekly NYSI
5/3 stochastic, negative sentiment, postive bullish percentage, and
now positive 12/85/12, but I'm concerned about buying in
before the NEXT gap down--
What would be your guy's vote for an objective swing entry on
QQQ or SSO?
After Europe yesterday and our open today, I thought we were
going to puke 5%. I had taken a small position in the Q's on
Friday's close and closed it this morning, down 2.5%. Now the
q's are only down .5%. Damn it!
Looking back to late August newsletters, the 60 minute chart had
trendline support at 1138, which it bounced off today...do you
think the triangle is still in play?
I asked this question yesterday, but no response. Can
anyone comment?:
System is somehow on the wrong side of the trade yet
again. One can only think that the reason why the system was
so successful (35:1 profit factor) in the past is that it put the
odds in your favor statistically.
Yes, this does not feel good. One can only think that the
reason why the system was so successful in the past is that it put
the odds in your favor statistically. It certainly doesn't
feel that way now with 5/3 being oversold.
With BPENER turning positive then, looking at getting a POP in
DIG or ERX next week. Could also get a tailwind from
the Hurricane, I would think, in terms of higher energy
prices. Best wishes to all those in the Hurricane's path, by
the way. Will be praying for you.
Still a novice trader, trying to learn from all the experienced
traders out there:
I tried to short gold on after it initially gapped up over $1700
and formed a "shooting star" candle. Of course gold promptly
zoomed over that to continue it's parabolic move and I got stopped
out. Steve was, of course, precient in stating that it was
not a good trade to short such a strong trend.
It looks like Matt and some others shorted gold in the last two
days. What was the trigger you used? Trendline
resistance? Breaking that 8 day EMA?
Just trying to learn for the next parabolic move that comes our
way...in this climate, I am sure they will offer some great
trades
Is there any way to do an end of day scan to know if the BPENER
crosses to buy before the market closes, similar to the GDX swing
system?
Also, regarding indvidual components of the index,do you know
of a quick way to do a relative strength scan to choose the
strongest of the group, either for BPENER or BPGDM? For
example, look at AUY compared to GDX, totally
outperforming...
Entered yesterday at 43.89, set stop to breakeven afer gap this
am, but got stopped out. In retrospect, too close a stop for
a double leveraged vehicle. What do you all use for stop on
DIG?
Fooling around with this BPNER concept further, is there an easy
way to grade the BPENER components based on relative strength and
choose the strongest of the lot for the trade?

Thanks, guys, just trying to find a reason to be bullish on this market...

Speaking of which, the MACD 12/26/9 turned positive on the 60 min chart.
Look at chart 9 from Aug 25
Matt, Steve, what happened to the 60 minute SPX triangle?
Posted by mfogli1 on 6th of Sep 2011 at 02:41 pm
Matt or Steve,, do you have that XLE chart from last week?
Posted by mfogli1 on 6th of Sep 2011 at 02:28 pm
The 60 minute XLE/DIG chart was nicely annotated, but I didn't save it and cannot find the newsletter where it was last discussed.
Man, that open was a frickin fakeout!

Maybe the system is losing it's statistical edge
Please comment...
Raising stops--how do you play?
Posted by mfogli1 on 31st of Aug 2011 at 12:33 am
When you guys trail stops, how do you guys deal with downside gaps? Do you guys do stop limit orders, or just sell into a bouce.
I HATE trying to protect a profit, only to see it vanish, rather than protected, on a on overnight gap
Yes, this does not feel

NASI 5/3/3 and BPENER turn positive?
Posted by mfogli1 on 26th of Aug 2011 at 03:04 pm
Is the NYSE summation 5/3 turning positive today?
What about BPENER? Will the 9 cross the 20 today?
MACD cross on Dr. Copper...implications?
Posted by mfogli1 on 25th of Aug 2011 at 10:48 pm
Look back at late May when it crossed the MACD from under the 200d MA and rallied nicely. Also 60 day stochastics crossing up from 20.
Although it is below the 200d MA and may be too high risk for a trade, do you guys think it has significance for the general market?
XLF--positive divergence...
Posted by mfogli1 on 24th of Aug 2011 at 09:06 pm
How does XLF look to you guys for a trade? Positive divergence on the RSI and outperformed the market today...
Eternal question...what would be your trigger

Are either of these poised to turn positive today?
Would be nice to know before the close...
