I generally trade stock index, currencies, and commodity
futures...I have good risk management and methodology for trading -
but I find myself overtrading, less patient, and basically less
profitable in choppy markets.
Is there anything you guys use that helps you to recognize
trending days versus choppy days? (using volume, ADX, certain
fib breaks, anything?) Thanks
i enjoy this indicator very much as i try to trade the gap fill
(if it's viable) every day. am short /es 1334.75 in a
riskless trade (your indicator was long after i was already in) but
feel better about the trade to 1329s now that it switched
negative. if it works, great - if not, just cost me
commissions.

This obviously doesn't ALWAYS work, but is helpful more often
than not. there are also many other variables to consider,
but this is as simple as i can put it. thanks.

I had mentioned yesterday how much I enjoy this indicator.
I primarily trade futures and trading the gap is one of my
strategies.
for example - i was long 1281 $es in a riskless trade targeting
1292s (gaps usually (but not always) don't fill on opex
fridays). matt posted his chart contrary to my trade and i
ultimately was taken out per my rules at breakeven. Although
my trade ultimately didnt pan out, it was nice to see the other
side and what direction the mkt was more likely to gravitate given
the indicator. I can see this indicator being a great tool
especially when my thesis for a gap fill lines up with his.
thanks so much.
regarding the overall market - i've found that if the E-mini
S&P futures are trading greater than 10 points away from its
4pm gapfill then it's not likely to fill that day. That, in
conjunction with your Gap Indicator, today could've helped look for
Bullish setups right from the start. would've been a nice
day. great work with this indicator Matt. I,
unfortunately use TOS and not Tradestation - have been trying to
tinker around to create it but to no avail.
