Question about XIV/VXX system draw down potential:
I seem to remember that there was a very large draw down on what
ended up being a winning trade back in 07/08 when using SPY.
When I go to the SPY System Stats tab the chart is cut off at
the Max Draw Down and the stats aren't visible. I'm curious
what the largest draw down on the SPY system has been and wondering
if we could try to assume what a drawdown on XIV/VXX might be?
I bring this up because of the following article.
I know you've warned about not putting too much $ into trading
these instruments and was wondering if you could comment on the
article and potential implications of a move in XIV/VXX given the
SPY system's largest draw down.
I for 1 am excited about the changes of combining the systems
into 1 new SPY Pro System. You are spot on about everything.
Maybe you should keep this rant and pre-emptively post it
every time a trade has a drawdown before people start
complaining.
I've been in the boat that you are describing...taking some of
the trades and not others (some of which were losers), 2nd guessing
others (which were big winners), investing again with a smaller
position (winner), going a bigger position on the next one (loser).
Look, systems don't take the emotions out of it unless you have
the discipline to trade the system....I've been "following" this
system with one of my accounts since it came out....I'm up only a
few percent while the system is up much more. I updated my
phone email address to alert me when I get emails from BPT. I
think that removing some of the complexity with going to 1 system
will help to stay disciplined.
Here's to 2016 and really following the system, every trade,
every time, same allocation.
Saturn, i'm really enjoying your analysis. Whenever you
post a chart could you also post a link to the chart along with the
chart picture, so we can monitor the chart in real time?
Just wondering if you have or you might be planning to backtest
results of the BPT MA Deluxe (Daily) on other indexes like Nasdaq
and the Russel or others and provide an updated chart for those?
That way if we have funds dedicated to following the BPT MA
Deluxe Daily it could be diversified. Thanks for your
thoughts!
I know you said that the short closed out. Question:
From the chart you posted the BPT Momentum turned Red.
Would that cause you to hold the short longer?
Does the XLE chart look like a bull flag forming? Also the
9 EMA and the BPENER are beginning to pinch. If so, would it
be a decent look to go long on a KISS off of the 9 EMA as pointed
out earlier on the chart? Thoughts?
