GDX Mechanical system

Posted by jaysz on 2nd of Jun 2010 at 09:28 am

I am plotting the P and F charts on the GDX and the percentage changed from 13 stocks to 14 stocks as a result of a buy on GOLD.Since the number of stocks on a buy does not change generally on a daily basis, it is possible for it to remain the same for a quite a few days and therefore the movement of one stock could easily create a signal on the moving average.

I am currently looking at the Dorsey Wright  bullish sector percentage of precious metal stocks which contains over 50 stocks for confirmation by changes in direction. I suspect it might be helpful.

UUP: NOT WHAT IT SEEMS...ETF SHARE ISSUES

UUP

Posted by jaysz on 5th of Nov 2009 at 04:13 pm

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Deutsche Bank AG (DB, DBK.XE) said Thursday that the PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish Fund (UUP) had run out of new shares and wouldn't be able to issue any more until it gets clearance from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The move could lead the $822 million exchange-traded fund, which helps investors bet on the U.S. dollar against a basket of foreign currencies, to trade at a price that is substantially higher than its underlying value. A number of ETFs that follow commodities like oil and natural gas have also had to suspend issuing new shares amid worries speculators are driving up commodity prices. It wasn't immediately clear why a currency fund would face the same problem.

BPENER - DUG

Matt

To confirm some of the work you do I use Dorsey Wright's BP for oil. I like it because it has about 100 members.  It is currently @ 28%. The lowest it has been is Jan 08 @ 16. They also have an separate oil service BP and that is about 36%.

They don't do your moving average work which I think is unique and outstanding.

If I had the time and computer knowledge I would do the MA work on their numbers.
