I am confuse with the
Trade Idea post in the blog and the WatchList. FAZ and SRS was
listed "Long" Status in the Watch List, but in your trade idea in
the blog is Short. Can you clarify this ? Thank.
I've been training up my son, Josh, who is home
from UConn where he is heading into his Senior year as a Business
and Finance Major. We both love following all the updates and
alerts on Breakpoint and wanted to thank you again for all the
effort and keeping it so affordable.
I wanted to clarify something. We
shorted TOL on Tuesday, the first time it broke down under the
17.00 level. As you know, it popped back up that day and we
wound up being stopped out just above 17.50 for a small loss.
Then, we missed getting short when it broke again and, of course,
this time it works! Well, after 33 years of trading, I know
that playing the "victim" of bad luck and timing, leads to
absolutely nowhere! So, what did we do wrong?
The first thing I noticed is that you did not
consider it triggered, even though it clearly traded under 17.00
that day. Then, we had to figure out our own stop and might
have gotten it wrong. Thirdly, what are the guidelines for
breakdown/breakout failures...i.e. if it goes through slightly once
and pops up, is it still a play? How about 2 or 3
times? What if it penetrates substantially and goes
racing back above the Breakpoint; is it still a play for
later that day? I guess all this would have to happen
intraday, otherwise we could just take a fresh look at the
Watchlist, right?
So, Matt, I'll leave it here. I
re-read the "rules" for the Watch-list, and it does not address the
issue of an intra-day penetration of the Break-point vs. a close
through it. Of course, if we use the close, it could be MILES
away by the time we go to get in.

They are simply Short ETF's - it doesn't say to short them. Hope that clarifies.
