    The market cap of all US regional bank stocks is down 80%, to $100 billion. To put this in perspective, JP Morgan alone is expecting to make $80 billion in net interest income this year. In 1.5 years, JP Morgan produces more interest income than the market cap of all US regional banks. This is all while large banks are paying 0.01% in interest on deposits. Once large banks start paying higher interest rates on deposits, their growth will accelerate. A few banks will soon control 90%+ of US deposits.

    The situation you are describing occurred in Canada many years ago. 5 banks control almost all banking operations there.
