The Japanese
government released a draft of a new Basic Energy Plan on Feb. 25
that declares the country's long-term commitment to nuclear power,
the Financial Times reported. The decision effectively reverses the
previous government's call to
close all of Japan's nuclear power
plants. Japanese Industry Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said the plan
still commits the country to reducing its reliance on nuclear
power. Japan will determine its "appropriate energy mix" at a later
date.
