Someone made the point last night on Fast Money that the Germans
have benefited by having their currency linked to a bunch of weaker
sisters. If the mark was still around it would be very strong and
hurt their exports. The converse is one of the things that has hurt
Greece. Comments from Euro members?
Germans as net exporters have been major beneficiaries of the
currency peg, which worked much like China's peg to the
dollar. It worked, until the net borrower-customers went
broke.
