I'm sure this has been discussed and I apologize in advance for
not seeing it , but is there a short ETF that can ne used instead
of actually shorting GDX? Thanks.

SPPIX is a short mutual fund from ProFunds that is the
inverse of the DJ Precious Metals Index, and trades only at
the close (3:30 PM ET). Note that the index on which SPPIX is based
is different than the index on which GDX is based (AMEX Gold Bugs
Index $GDM) but looking at the components, there is not huge
difference. SPPIX is not leveraged so it is a way to get 1x inverse
exposure to PM stocks compared to DUST which is 2x inverse.

Not dzz, that's a short on gold itself. The specific inverse etf is DUST. It's a 2X inverse fund.
