I've read several of Dent's books. He has done a fine job
of analysis and defining trends, but not so well forecasting market
action. I guess that's why I never subscribed to his market
updates. He does make a nice argument in this piece

as a side note, if you read his very first book "The Great Boom
Ahead" published in 1992 (I believe) he
called the '90s bull market and then for the top in mid to
late 2007...pretty damn impressive (he should've stopped with his
first book as his later ones he contradicted his original
predictions to some extent though they all end with us going into a
deep depression about this time frame and lasting until the latter
part of this decade).
