well, Tungsten is the perfect metal to do it with since the
densities of Tungsten and gold are very close i.e. 19.25 g/cm3 for
Tungsten and 19.32 for gold. Lead would make a poor choice
because it's density is only 11.35 g/cc3.
However here's a funny one for you guys, here's a 400 ounce gold
bar on Ebay for sale for $496K! First off, who in their right
mind would buy a $1/2 million gold bar on Ebay? However
secondly, you can buy the same gold bar at Kitco.com for $445K
which is about $50K less?? I guess the Ebay seller is hoping
for a 'sucker'?
