Concern about market depth and anecdotal reports of difficulty in
moving large positions make it clear that there is "something
different" about the bond market, but there is not yet a "precise
and convincing explanation of exactly what has happened," said
Federal Reserve Governor Daniel Tarullo, on Thursday. "It is an
issue that everybody needs to be thinking about assessing more,"
especially whether it is a financial risk,
I am aware of the issue with degradation on the 3x etfs....for
those of you who trade them, what is your typical time to hold?
In NUGT for nice gain (thanks Matt and Steve) and think it
may run a bit.... don't want to overstay however.
The leap in German bund yields over the last two weeks is
another sign that liquidity issues could eventually present serious
problems for financial markets, former Pimco Chief Executive
Mohamed El-Erian on Wednesday warned at the annual SALT investment
conference in Las Vegas.
The HSBC China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, a gauge of
nationwide manufacturing activity, fell to a final reading of 48.9
in April from 49.6 in March, HSBC Holdings PLC said Monday.
A reading below 50 indicates a contraction in manufacturing
activity from the previous month, whereas a reading above indicates
expansion.
"China's manufacturing sector had a weak start to the second
quarter, with total new business declining at the quickest rate in
a year while production stagnated," HSBC's chief economist for
China, Qu Hongbin, said in a statement.
Thanks for charts Matt. no divergence yet. just
wondering what your thinking on the timing of the trade. SLW in
particular has a gap to fill to 21. TIA
