CSCO looks to be close

MEE broke out

CSCO looks to be close to breakout (my buy stop is at 24.01, it's been to 24). Volume looks great.

GDX up A buck premkt!!

I had a dream I bought a LOT of GDX for $3 last night. Glad to see I would have made a nice 33% return! (I don't suppose trading dreams are uncommon with people here.) Ok, now to get on to trading.

I hope it's the climax, since I just bought DRV very close to the low of the first 5 minutes (a 100% impulsive trade that seems to be working out so far). If we make new lows, I'm out with a very small loss. If we fill the gap, then I'll be pretty happy. :)

Here's my prediction. We gap up initially, then we fill the gap in the first few hours. Then we reverse a few hours before close and go the other way (and maybe back again). I'm 100% guessing this, but it's the kind of thing that this market has been doing lately. Gap, crap, then reverse, etc.

Not sure, but I hope we go somewhere soon. I don't mind seeing quietness like this, though, since the longer it goes, the bigger the move that follows (usually). Currently I'm set up for a move either way, so bring it on!!

Just closed it. :)  Fun little trade.

Shorted SSO on the last

Shorted SSO on the last little rally to near the high of the day, with a stop a few cents above it. It's a low probablility trade, but it also has very low risk.

Well, I went home long (my system did, so not really my decision). I'd rather be short, honestly, especially since my system has done terribly this month! (So short is probably the right guess. Only time will tell.)

Wow, that's great! Thanks for the tip. I've been selling/covering half manually, which is really tough when I've got 5 or 6 going at a time (when I've got to move fast). Looks like I need to investigate IB's functions more.

Here's something bears should be

Posted by user32 on 22nd of Jul 2010 at 03:51 pm

Here's something bears should be cautious about - we just broke the downtrend line on the $SPX (in the big falling wedge). If we drop from here and close at or below the line, then shorting might work nicely (since it will be a fakeout on a daily chart). But if we push up into the close and add to the volume, then a breakout it will be, and there could be follow through tomorrow (in spite of overboughtness). So be watchful in the next 10 minutes. (If you're using Matt's 5 min 60 stoch crossdown, then this probably doesn't apply to you, since you'll want to follow the signal). Here's a chart...

Nice job. I missed it, mainly because I was exiting my longs (which I was able to do right before the drop. Whew! (One thing I like about Tradebullet is the "Close All Open Positions" panic button. IB makes it too hard to close positions quickly.)

Ugh. Well, that stopped me out of everything.

Short Market Now?

I follow very few newsletters and trading sites, but I do respect Mike Swanson's analysis. Picking tops and bottoms is very difficult to do, but I've found that he actually does a fairly good job of it (assuming that you use stops), mainly because he has a consistent method for doing it based on long-term moving averages (150 day and 200 day and the like.)

I hope you're right, rp. I've been getting market short and dollar/vxx long yesterday and today. A nice gap down would really make my day.

I've found that also having a second (and cheaper) high speed internet line via DSL is great, since if your cable gets cut somehow, your phone line usually work (and vice versa). It's helped me out more than once. Sure you pay more, but a half day without internet can be very costly as a trader.

Dollar -- long term swing trade?

Posted by user32 on 1st of Jul 2010 at 10:00 am

I'm liking where it is now, especially since I sold my swing positions about a month ago, looking for lower prices to get in. Now, it's slightly below the 50 dma at the trendline, so assuming I get some kind of buy trigger (the daily slow stochastics have been a reliable buy trigger in the past), it could be a good trade. But I might not even wait for that. We'll see...
