The 200-day EMA (exponential moving average) is near $58. The
200-day SMA (simple moving average) is close to $57.5. So, I think
it's the difference in types of moving averages that's being
used.

Well, dang! I thought I had set a stop limit to short M (Macy's)
this morning. Turns out I bought it instead! Dumb mistake. At
first, I couldn't figure out why I was losing money on my "short"
while the stock was dropping.

My solution was to automate my day trades using MultiCharts.
Today I have 19 setups , 7 of which have triggered. Kind of
necessary since I have to work during the day. Speaking of which, I
need to go prepare for a webinar. Love the pee-in-a-bottle idea,
except that I might accidentally reach for the wrong bottle when I
need a drink. So I probably won't be doing that. Good luck all!

Here are a few short-term short ideas that I'm watching, in case
we get further downside.

Here's a good COT chart which updates on Tuesdays (as of the
previous Friday). You can see the little commercial long jot on the
last date.

Hey Matt, Steve, or anyone who wants to answer. Can anyone
suggest a rule or some guidelines for buying using a stop-limit to
buy breakouts? I find that my stop limits often get skipped over,
especially for breakouts in the first few minutes of the day. For a
$40 stock, I might have a stop-limit spread of 0.04. For a $100
stock, it might be 0.06 or 0.07. Do these seem too tight, or do I
just need to get used to having them being skipped over sometimes?
My broker is IB, btw. Thanks!
