I agree, just look at Japan, easy money didn't help real estate or the market for the last 20 years...
There is an inflation component to gold, it's very simple, limited and becoming more and more dificult to maintain. It's our ability to extract it from the ground every year. This does add to supply, somewhere between 1 & 2 %/yr I believe.

HFD.TO, HFU.TO(2X bear and bull funds for financials)
HXD.TO, HXU.TO (same but for TSX 60 large caps)
Both of these have enough volume to trade
