This month's numbers may be misleading because of the seasonal
adjustments. In a normal year there is an uptick in actual new
claims because the auto manufacturers and their suppliers lay off
staff to re-equip for the new model year or to have a vacation
shutdown. This uptick is somewhat massaged away by the seasonal
adjustments they use. This year may well be different in scale
because of the reductions in employment earlier this year following
the auto bankruptcies.

The bollinger bands have compressed. Friday's job numbers if good will take TBT higher.
