Although this pattern isn't well known by investors the Gartley
Pattern can be either a Bullish or Bearish pattern. Currently the
S&P 500 is exhibiting a rather classic looking Bearish Gartley
Pattern. An example of what a Bearish Gartley pattern looks like is
shown below and once complete it looks like a butterfly.
Meanwhile here is a current chart of the S&P 500 with the
Gartley Pattern added along with the Triangle pattern as well.
Typically the CD leg will peak at 78.6% of the move from X to A
which would lead to a move up to 914 to complete the pattern. Also
note the top of the Triangle pattern also comes into play near this
level as well so this is something to watch for the next week or
two.
