Iyengar Yoga is what you need to do. It is very good for therapeutic situations and a great thing to do for general well-being.

I run a school in Australia, am a certified teacher of 20 years, and could help find you a good teacher in your area in the US if you PM'ed me.

I know I am just another person in cyberspace, but I really feel that getting into Iyengar Yoga, even just attending one class a week to start with, would be of great benefit to you Matt. Not just when your back is bad, like now, but to help prevent this happening more into the future.
