dylan,
http://www.etfconnect.com/ gives you the holdings of many of the
ETFs.
When I search on SMN I get the major holdings:
As of 2/29/2008
Holding
Dollar Value
% of Total Portfolio
Credit Suisse First Boston Corp. 3.080%
03/03/08
$62,979,000.00
45.52
UBS Warburg LLC 3.080% 03/03/08
$38,178,000.00
27.59
Bank of America Corp. 3.060% 03/03/08
$17,998,000.00
13.01
Credit Suisse First Boston Corp. 3.130%
03/03/08
$16,362,000.00
11.83
But this sure doesn't look like the Basic Material Index, but
then Yahoo has the SMN listed as:
The investment seeks daily investment results, before fees and
expenses, which correspond to twice the inverse of the daily
performance of the Dow Jones U.S. Basic Materials index.
The fund normally invests 80% of
assets in financial instruments with economic characteristics that
should be inverse to those of the index.
