Buy two very good books. One is Technical Analysis by
Edwards and Macgee (this is very dry and slow reading but it is the
"Bible" of technical analysis. Agreat book that I bought over
20 years ago is called "How charts can help you in the stock
market" by William Jiler. This book was out of print for
years, but they brought it back a few years ago. Excellent
book. Great charts. Simple explanations too.
