lp, I think that's the combo I'll go with for a new account.
I've been waffling between Multcharts and Ninja, but further
reading this weekend has me back on the Ninja bandwagon. Sounds
like they have a new release coming up right away too, which is a
bonus - assuming it's somewhat stable. Setting up these platforms
the way you want them can be so time consuming that it's tough to
try them all out.

I am a Canadian interested in automated trading. Does anyone have any idea how a Canadian can automate?

Canadians can easily use an Interactive Brokers/Ninja Trader combination.
Most of these mechanical strategies are EOD daytrading strategies. Commissions add up over time.
That said, Interactive Brokers still offers cheapest commissions in Canada. That makes this broker most suitable for day trading strategies.
