generally the mech systems only

    mechanical systems

generally the mech systems only work for the symbol they are set up for.  If you backtest different symbols -- say SDS instead of SSO, or QID instead of SKF - whatever -- you get very different results.  You would have to be doing your own backteating to find other moving average combos that work with different symbols -- which many poeple on the blog in fact do...............

    you can buy URE instead

you can buy URE instead of shorting SKF, but you have to do it on a signal using SKF -- you can't use URE for the signal................................

    Or do the homework/backtesting/optimization required

Or do the homework/backtesting/optimization required to have confidence. I am tradeing URE long with one system and SKF long with the 9/39. Sometimes might have a conflict and end up effectively  "flat" like with Ravun's 5& 15min systems but that's OK.

    yes, of course you can

yes, of course you can backtest different systems............I had SRS and URE both running for a while, both on 6 min charts, but with different parameters, but it drove me nuts.  Way too often I'd have psoitions in both of them losing money...............dropped it and haven't gone back to it yet...............
