anybody know of any software packages or trading sites that
offer "intraday" stock screening (like would be able to identify
stocks hitting intraday 52 week highs and that would also be
able to identify intraday candlestick patterns such was bearish or
bullish engulfings whether 1 min or 5 min chart)?

Try finviz.com for intra day screeners. If I recall correctly they are delayed 15 mins.
Take the site tutorial because the site is filled with many great stuff.
