Ed_M, it sounds like you may be more of a swing trader like me ( as opposed to a day trader). If you don’t mind me asking, since I am still developing my style, do you hold your longs and then buy more when they are lower as you described, or do you sell some long and buy shorts now. I am wondering if you swing between the two and have some in each camp at the same time.  Thanks.   I know each person has their own technique for risk management.

    I'm holding on to some

I'm holding on to some of my SPY longs and hope to buy back more at a lower price because I believe the market movers will try to push the market down at some point to create the liquidity they need to buy up the trillions of dollars of shares they will be required to buy. I also took a short position in IWM as a hedge because it looks weak. I've learned the hard way that it's a fools game to go against the trend and since the trend looks like it's going up, I feel foolish for having taken a short position.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts,

    I'm not Ed, but I'm

I'm not Ed, but I'm another swing trader. My style is to take some profits along the way, and set a bracket order on the rest. If there is a healthy pullback, I often add back the piece I sold previously. I don't short positions that I am long in, although I know that can work for some people.

    Thanks,  mastermind.  Great points.
