it's probably more about the next election to  score some short term political gains than anything else .... NAFTA is a good example ... nothing really major change in USMCA despite all the rhetoric about "how bad of deal it was" .....

Don't get me wrong, I hope this gets addressed (IP Protection, forced tech transfer) ... this is deeply needed in the long run. I wish the Euros and most of the west actually would press harder on this and back the US more publicly  ... so far, it's pretty much only the US driving this issue that has been bothering everyone doing business there  ...  the door is now open , Trade war started ... I just hope it wasn't all for nothing or meaningless gains   ... if this doesn't get addressed now, or at least start to address this with mechanism put in place, I don't think this door will re-open soon ...  and the way China seems to be heading with Xi, I can't see this getting any better on that front without some form deal including this aspect ... Trade surplus, buying Soy Beans, energy, etc..  won't fix the the bigger issue ... it might apply some short term boost and be used for political gains, as some areas in the country will benefit more than others from it, but this structural way of doing things in China against the west is what really needs to be addressed ...

    Anyway ... sorry Matt/Steve  ...  sticking to trading now ... :D
