Here's a version of ATR that I like that plots it as a % of
price so that the absolute value of the market (SPY in this case)
is not a factor. Although we're currently at a high level we're
still way below the 2009 peak and *if* the line rolls over here it
could indicate a move up as per Sept 2010. Doesn't mean it will
last long -- see Mar 2008. Interesting divergence of low values
going into the 2007 top. ATR is 20 period
Here's a weekly version of %ATR. The last couple noticeable lows
%ATR rolled over first. This time it was at the same point so far.
April high had a divergence as %ATR started up before the price
high

Possible for sure, but the ATR is certainly not in the warm and fuzzy territory
