If such a deflationary spiral exists I wouldn't be concerned
about the price of Silver as there will be much bigger issues.
Anything is possible, but such prognostications serve little
purpose. Peter has speculated about Silver crashing for over two
years and it nearly hit 50 during that time. Just trade according
to your objectives based upon the triggers you get etc. versus
listening to prognostications.
At $2, all silver mines in the world would have to close. Even
if oil was at $8 per barrel. and that means no more solar power,
cell phones or other electronics. If you buy into $2 silver, then
short AAPL.
$8 oil and $2 silver imply such massive economic devastation
that either we have 90%+ unemployment and world wide social unrest
(read riots and martial law everywhere),
Or the annihilation of civilization as we know it (plus
tremendous world population reduction).
It also assumes that Ben and company will not be using their
fingers to press buttons on the keyboard to create electronic
impulses called dollars.
Long before $2 silver, Ben's helicopters will be all over the
country - unless the intention is world population reduction - in
which case the only thing of value will be ammunition, drinking
water and food (and in that order).
Possible? Yes. But I pray that it won't be probable.
