DGAZ vs GASX

DGAZ vs. GASX

Posted by wvj32 on 19th of Apr 2013 at 04:31 pm

I looked into it a while back. From the GASX Prospectus, "The Fund seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the performance of the ISE-Revere Natural Gas Index. The index is composed of equity securities of issuers involved in the exploration and production of natural gas and does not track the changes in the spot price of natural gas as a commodity."  DGAZ's Prospectus is a little more complicated so I will try to paraphrase, DGAZ ties in to the physical commodity natural gas (spot price). Summary, one ties in to the natural gas commodity (DGAZ) and the other natural gas related (exploration and production) companies, etc (GASX). Bottom line is that the percentage returns will not correlate.
