AI is not biased. Sure. Ask it to generate this and watch what happens:

Janet yellen in WWII style patriotic poster with money printer and caption reading "Can't stop. Won't stop. Saving democracy 1 trillion at a time"

I used CoPilot so of course I'm going to get all the lefty filters for "intelligence" born and raised in the Bay Area.

Love that look but NVDA

AVGO follow up

Love that look but NVDA also has a great technical look and cleaner fundamentals (cheaper, etc). Any thoughts on the tradeoff....or just buy both?

IBKR challenging Janet for best

Posted by DigiNomad on 14th of May 2024 at 03:56 pm

IBKR challenging Janet for best money printer in the land. Loving it since post recently (unfortunately, I haven't been in it for years).

Me too. It's been a long time since my tech days, but there's probably a persistence setting for logins and if it's not set to off it likely has a configurable timeout value. Similar to a DHCP lease, but for logins. Just guessing.

GSL - 1st TP level achieved on this one I posted last month. I still like it, but took some off the board.

The last time SPX started started to print "sell cycles" on the daily was November 9th. We then proceeded to have an all time record rally without a checkback (by my measures).   "Sell" is used very loosely in this context!  Haha.

You seem to always post great charts that belong in an IBD handbook. Appreciate it!

Nice. I'm also big in XLU names... Matt's post of FinViz scanner started a utes bonanza for me (I was already in but that really got me more involved). I am being more careful with XLE names. The world economy is much much weaker than people are letting on.  If you don't listen to CNBC or Bloomberg and just look at the economic reports, you should be able to see what I mean without much effort.  (another trick has been the Copper move....it's not demand driven, but the market is acting like it is...because it's historically been a good signal).

Ouch. I gave up on the other side many months ago (in mid November about the same time Burry disclosed a 40% loss). Still riding both sides, but I almost always go home with a positive delta dollars (except for rare occasions when BPT posts a short or I'm just being stupid and forgetting that money printing is all that matters).

So mainly XLU and XLE? Or do you mean something else?

SPX - I got a

SPX - I got a sell cycle showing up on the daily.  Also, the MA ribbon below still showing a very clear green red green pattern (ABC?).  It's super extended for an ABC, but this would be the perfect move to catch the most people offsides, IMO. Even I have been solidly in the "chase the inflation and buy it hand over fist / all hail to the money printer who gives us profits mode."  A rug pull here would leave a lot of people very surprised...maybe an extreme level of people, which is what the market aims to do most of the time.

CPI super interesting now with

CPI super interesting now with hot PPI. I have heard whispers of a "good" number incoming (meaning a downside miss). The market will gyrate like a homeless madman if that happens. Money printing likely wins out in the end, but it could get wild.

Internals are very positive.  Crazy

Posted by DigiNomad on 14th of May 2024 at 02:32 pm

Internals are very positive.  Crazy spike on Google demonstration has calmed down a bit but still very solid.

I think people are starting to realize that all is this is good for like 10 - 15 companies...and they are at war with each other. All the little players and the Adobe's are like, like uh oh. How are we going to compete and/or survive? At the end of the day, how will AI cause consumers to either buy more or pay more for things (or both) and what will those things be?  If you're not planning to cut out humans in the workflow when you're investing 40K per chipset, how is the investment going to pay off?  The problem is that we need humans with paychecks to be buying the stuff we produce with AI.  There's a big "ooops" lurking out there.

A few people have been interested, so here's the link to the IBKR / Python / TA demo:

AI released into the wild

ADBE - just cratered!

Posted by DigiNomad on 14th of May 2024 at 02:06 pm

AI released into the wild without guardrails and we got an almost instantaneous war for dominance in the industry. I don't think they probably want to destroy ADBE by moving so quickly.... but the no guardrail environment doesn't give them much choice if they want to survive. Elon warned us but we jumped in blind anyway.

GOOG just announced large increase

Posted by DigiNomad on 14th of May 2024 at 01:33 pm

GOOG just announced large increase in AI prompt size. 2 million tokens. The larger it gets the closer we are for consumers to be able to drop in say the code and all historical data for their websites and then prompt on top (essentially very easy custom LLMs) but there are lots of benefits to increasing prompt size.

It's interesting to see The AI wars heat up in the developers lifting guardrails that they probably really don't want to lift so quickly simply for product cycle reasons. I mean, technology moves much quicker in Asia because they don't throttle it like the US does for product cycle reasons. For example, backup sonar has been mandatory in Singapore for way over a decade now. It's still a premium feature in the United States. Product cycles.

The new GPT-4o  ability to

Posted by DigiNomad on 14th of May 2024 at 01:03 pm

The new GPT-4o  ability to analyze stock charts is insane. Just watched a demo where it analysed charts and it was basically online flawless. The real jaw dropper was when he dropped in a screenshot of FinViz heat map for analysis. It picked up insights from the tiny parts of the maps that are hard for humans to pick up...and of course it was insightful and nearly instantaneous .

He is using a basic python framework linked to the the ibkr API with a call out to GPT so when he clicks on a ticker in a list, not only does it give a chart but it automatically gives real time technical analysis for the time frame in question.

At the end, he kind of admits that his whole mission to teach people the basics of coding and how to link it to trading platforms is quickly being overtaken by AI. He admitted that in a very short period of time, it's likely that all the functionality will be on your desktop without needing to create a framework in the background to enable it. If the AI can see your screen, it can deliver the same functionality. And now it can see your screen so....

BABA sort of hilarious if

BABA sort of hilarious if you're familiar with all the FinTwit equity experts that have been beating the community over the head with their 'this one can't miss' fundamental analyses over the last few months.

My only comment has been 'where is the entry for CCP company in your DCF analysis and if that's not a thing (it's obviously not) then how are you discounting it for being a CCP company?'

I guess market got my memo yesterday.. played out exactly as described for a hot print. One more to go...

A hot PPI makes a weak CPI potentially a double negative. Makes more sense if you think of CPI as revenue and PPI as COGS even though it's not a perfect analogy.. Ideal investor environment is when COGS are not growing and you're able to raise prices (CPI). The result is earnings expansion without needing to increase quantity of sales.  Things get trickier with hot PPI. A weak CPI would now suggest that inflation pressures are intense but it's harder to pass costs on to consumers.

CNBC - Biden will announce tariffs on Chinese tomorrow to protect.... consumers. LoL. There is no shame with the gaslighting anymore!
