Can any one in the community suggest a good broker to
trade usa shares from Australia (as a non- usa citizen). I current
use Etrade Australia . But this involves extensive trade fees
including fx spread and fx risk as each trade buys and sells the fx
cross as funds are held in AUD in Australia. There is also
no stop loss facility for global shares greatly increasing risk.
Cannot trade usa market hours.
I used to use Think and Swim and Scottrade but in Australia we
are now classified as "non- us aliens" and cannot hold an account
in the usa.
Any ideas on other broker options that allow funds to be held in
usa, trade usa hours and have stop loss facility while trading from
Australia (or New Zealand) would be appreciated.
Interactive brokers or Optionsxpress are your best bet.
I use Interactive brokers but I don't trade equities now, just
futures, but I used to trade US equities through them. Quite cheap
compared to the sky high rates that Aussie brokers charge
