the example I showed on weekend showing the bear long next bar
open strategy on the QQQ. The signal an entry last Wednesday, and
since the strategy is next bar open the trade filled on Thursday's
open. Friday's close a exit was generated for the open on Tuesday -
basically you would have exited this morning on the open, which
obviously was the best thing to do. Again the way the
strategy would work: on Friday I would tell you that an exit is
being generated for the next day's open, which was Tuesday
Still working on a few bugs here and there, at first I'm trying
to get everything working properly on one strategy, the bear long,
then once I have it perfected, then I can add the code to all the
strategies. What's hard is not the initial entry or exit, it's the
2nd and 3rd entries that the next day open can create problems
for.
As example: let's say you have a 1st entry on a strategy, then
price sells off enough that it would normally trigger a 2nd entry
at the close; BUT you are not taking the closing price now, you are
taking the trade the next day. Well what happens if price gaps up,
so it's worse than the close -do you take the trade, or do you give
a buffer, and if so how much, it gets complicated. anyway once I
figure all that out, then I can finally add it to all the other
systems
I was wondering how the big gaps we have seen on opening prices
in the last year would affect that aspect of the system.
Looking forward to the final product and I'm sure you will find a
way!
