CTA levels

    remember a lot of these big CTA's have price levels that trigger them automatically to buy or sell, here's a list of some of them

    the machines LOL - I've talked to a few of these CTA's, I can tell you some of the simple ass crap they use - I wrote a system to do what one of them was doing - it look us about 10 min to do it - I did that to show the CTA how trivial their system was. They did something like: if price falls 3% below the 200 day MA they sell 1/2 and if price falls 7% below the 200 day MA they sell everything. Then they buy 50% if price goes 3% over the 200 day MA and buy their full position if price closes 5% above the 200 day MA

    The machines - will kick our collective asses at trading when they become truly ubiquitous. I'm not looking forward to it. I enjoy my current job!

    We're in a sweet spot right now. However, like airline pilots, I don't think "trader" is a career people having kids now will be able to pass onto their children. Programmer for either one of those careers, yes..until the machines get smarter than us and write their own updates...but not the actual careers as they are today.

    if I recall this firm manages a few billion - they pay me a few million for my systems to replace their crap LOL
