Personally (and lazily) I find hunting for stocks too
work-intensive. I buy SQQQ and TQQQ, up, down, up, down, using
credit spreads to limit risk. A simple strategy for a simple
mind.
again guys that depends on your strategy and what you look for.
If you are broadly looking for stocks looking at tons of scans and
100s or 1000s of stocks, yeah that's a lot of work - I know guys
who scan 1000s of stocks a day, that's not for me.
if on the other hand you have a targeted scan like I have on my
CCI or some others - they spit back maybe 2 to 20 stocks, takes me
10 min to look through those. Even my high volume long scan only
takes about 5 - 10 min. If you don't have 10 or 15 min then
you need to re examine your life LOL
and that's if you are looking for trades day to day. Your other
strategy might be to only watch for setups on a weekly chart or
some major sector inflection which might only occur a handful of
times a year
case in point, there's no one fit all answer here about how long
or short it takes - highly depended on what you are
targeting
I also like the idea of avoiding company-specific shocks. Do all
the T.A. you want, the CEO resigns and boom! goes your plan.
Everyone needs a strat that fits him best.
well speaking of company specific things - that's why I don't
bother trying to add these strategies to individual stocks. I've
done it in the past and while they work - because they are stocks
you can have things like earnings or some big news and you have a
good objective buy signal from the system and then BAM some news
out of the blue or earnings and it's down 25% immediately. With the
ETF's you don't get that obviously
making some progress with the besting, here's where I'm at now -
X shows completed systems - I'm testing GLD now and will try and
complete the other QE 3 short today and tomorrow and move on to
some other sub systems

This spread sheet would be awesome for the kiss as well if it
was able to provide 60min , 2 hr on key indices and then sectors,
GLD, on the daily and weekly.
thanks, it will be a win win for everyone. and as far as all the
sub systems, I probably won't try and give trade signals to each
sub system for each ETF, will be too much to track, I'll probably
just add all the longs and shorts on one chart so only one system
triggers at anyone time, or maybe at most have all longs on one
chart of TLT and all shorts on a second chart of TLT and give
signals to both - if there's some overlap it's easy

Maybe some day you could do a Systems Vs. Steve competition with
a 100k paper acct and play 1st to a million ?? You know BPT
Olympics with some top members competing.
Really smart is this environment. I do the same thing with
LABU/LABD. I wake up not caring what the market will do. Just play
the risk/reward. I like simple in life and
trading/investing.
