there's no settings for VWAP that's the point - no length like a MA. Volume weighted price. I have some versions that also plots the standard deviation prices but otherwise the default VWAP will be the same across the board.

Also don't forgot what it was originally developed for and still used for:  It's for large investors and institution's - for example let's say that you have 5 million shares of AAPL you want to buy - you don't place a market order. These block orders are typically given to a trade desk to then attempts fill that order during the day.  Most of these clearing houses will try and guaranteed a fill as good or better than VWAP prices.

For example if price is below the VWAP and the trader is trying to fill this large long order - he will be actively buying because price is below VWAP - i.e. better than VWAP prices for this client. If price is trading above VWAP then the trader will use intra day pullbacks to the VWAP to place those larger buy orders. The reverse is true for filling a large sell order - these guys try and fill these block trades at or above VWAP (better prices) for longs or above VWAP (better prices) for sells

this is why when price is trading above VWAP, many times you will see when price pulls back to VWAP it bounces - or if it's a downtrend day rallies back to VWAP tend to get sold - because block trades are getting filled there

    That is so interesting I

cool - glad I could help you understand it a bit better - it also helps to really understand what it was developer for so that it gives you a better understand of how to use it on your side, even though you are not trying to fill millions of shares

Do large investors/institutions use anchored VWAP too, like anchored to an important macro day -- Fed day, March bottom etc?
