What are the Extended Trading Hours? Vary By Security?
It used to be 7am Central Time to 8:30am CST and then 3pm to 7pm
CST. But, In TDAmeritrade ThinkOrSwim, I see some of the
securities I am trading are starting at 6am, and some of the big
one - AAPL, MSFT, etc.. seem to have even longer hours. Do
the hour vary my security? (I will not beleive it) . What is
the deal and how can I tell specifically for a specific stock?
(do not want surprises). [this question does not
involve SPY, QQQ, etc which are 24/7)
You should contact TDAmeritrade fo more details, hours depend on
specific brokers. I've never heard of extended trading hours being
different depending on the security though. Also, SPY and QQQ
aren't able to be traded 24/7.
Actually TD has a fair amount of stocks that trade 24 hours,
most the index related stocks such as XLE, XLF, SPY, Q' s,
UNG, GLD etc. In your watchlist it'll have a little 24
in a yellow circle. They add new ones fairly regualerly.
Realize though that trading can be thin in the wee hours and the
spreads can be higher than you'd see in the normal hours.
