SPY systems CCI trade did occur

This is what sucks about Tradestation at times, just like have a lot of problems with Stockcharts.com, I have issues with Tradestation.  I've found over the years that Tradestation tendst get overwhelmed at times when the market is really moving fast, where there's tons and tons of tick data, tends to overload their system. So yesterday the CCI trade was showing all day then as I commented after the close the trade condition was lost and did not occur and I sent a retraction email.

Well I reboot my computer this morning and Tradestation and BOOM, the trade is there! It's like WTF, very annoying.

anyway after looking at emails many of you took the trade, some did not. Some took the trade and closed out after my retraction email while many of you kept the trade like Hoek below. So I'll add the trade to the trade list in the SPY section.

even if the trade didn't occur, many of you who took the trade my comments would have been you could have treated it like a second entry to the Bear Long, which has a 1st entry at slightly higher prices from Thursday's close.

Also could the trade have showed up had I rebooted Tradestation yesterday?  Maybe I don't know.  It's also possible that Tradestation did a data adjustment to their official SPY close that didn't show up until much later that evening or this morning.  There's just no way to know. Also this happens to be one of those cases where we are talking about pennies!!  For example SPY on Stockcharts closed at 326.54, if Tradestation had that close off by a penny or two such as 326.56 it would not have showed up. Price closed about 1 penny over the trigger price! So it was right on the edge.  Remember these statistical systems trigger by a set of indicators and conditions that have to go over an exact price range, just 1 penny can cause them to trigger or not trigger, Friday's rally just happened to be strong enough that price closed within 1 penny of triggering vs not triggering.

As far as myself rebooting Tradestation on Friday, you have to understand that with the amount of code here, it takes about 10 - 15 min for these workspaces to open. Therefore that 13 - 15 min threshold I have at the close for options there's just not enough time for me to reboot tradestation and get the charts back up to confirm.

The good thing here is that again it appears that the CCI trade triggered by 1 penny only. That is exceedingly rare and something may not see again for maybe years. Basically it's a very very rare event and not something that should cause you to discount the SPY systems.

I do not have a TS or a NT account, but I do have a TOS account.  Matt mentioned he might add the KISS system for TOS, if there was enough interest.  I would be interested in that.  Any others?  Schwab is in the process of assimilating TDAmeritrade, so we might have to petition Schwab to keep TOS also.

    Yes, I vote for that...I

TOS version sounds great here too.

Thanks for the explanation. I can understand the frustration. We are all pretty much dependent on these imperfect platforms. I was having trouble with my indicators Tradestation yesterday, and I felt like my vision was partially obscured.

I took a long trade in SPX yesterday, but not just off the CCI system. I welcomed and used your heads up as input. I used it, along with what I was seeing on my own charts, to help inform my decision. I understand that the system trades are automatic. I could automatically enter and exit them as well. I prefer to take them as just that: input. To be honest, I feel a little bit better about my position knowing the CCI trade did trigger. But that feeling, as we all know, is horseshit. The only thing that matters will be what the market does at 9:30 am ET Monday. Sure, the futures Sunday night will mean something, but that can all change by the next morning.

Anyway, appreciate the work you and Steve are doing.

    I agree with timebandit...the systems

I agree with timebandit...the systems are guidelines for us to trade our own way. It is very helpful to have the "heads up" email earlier in the day because it allows me to focus near the end of the day and look for an entry. I did so like 5 mins before the close on Friday and made an instant profit. I did sell in afterhours and happy with the trade. In this case, since CCI did trigger afterall, I will reenter the trade on Monday if we get another dip.

Its all meant as a guideline and not an exact science!
