not sure how quantitative it is, but FTK is an example of a whippy stock with lots of tails.  They have a character prior to their breakout.  When I see that I know it needs the full coil width for a stop, even if that forces me to trade less shares (ie. less shares, bigger stop range)  This has helped me immensely.  Good luck to all and Matt and Steve have been killing it lately so big thanks.
